Dorothy Jean Hawkins, 94, of Madisonville, KY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born on February 14, 1924 in Earlington, KY to the late Will and Dixie "Harpy" Lamb. Dorothy was a beautician and co-owner of several businesses  with her husband. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren, who say "she is the greatest grandma in the world." Dorothy was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband whom she was married to for sixty-three years, Lawrence "Sweet Pea" Hawkins; and her brothers and sisters, Ella Phelps, Henry Clay Lamb, Edward Lamb, Mable Lamb and William Lamb.

Survivors include her children, Darryl (Gail) Hawkins of Madisonville, Rhonda (Ernie) Fugate of Mortons Gap, KY, Debbie (Randy) Southerland of Madisonville, Tim Hawkins of Mortons Gap and Carolyn (Billy) Keller of Madisonville; grandchildren, Josh Fugate, Devon (Travis) Dunlap, Lauren Hawkins, Will Hawkins, Nick Presley, Teresa Devine, Pam (Brian) Cates and Shelly Fugate; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Lucille Metheny of Central City, KY and Barbara Hawkins of Anton, KY.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery 3902 State Route 93 South Eddyville, KY with Travis Dunlap officiating. Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers are Josh Fugate, Nick Presley, Bill Metheny, Tyler Dunlap, Randy Southerland and Travis Dunlap.

The family would like to say a special thank you to all of her caregivers and Dr. Billy Fralish. Their care, love and  compassion did not go unnoticed.
