Donald F. Shrake MADISONVILLE, KY.-

Donald F. Shrake, 70, of Madisonville, died at 3:34 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, Ky.

He was born April 25, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Donald Fredrick Shrake and Justine DiVencenzo Shrake. He was a retired U.S. Army Veteran with rank of Sargent First Class serving in Vietnam where he was a POW and was also retired from Kroger in Carbondale, Illinois as a butcher.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Donald Frederick Shrake.

He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Honey D. Summers of Hopkinsville, Ky., Tina and Larry Lampton of Madisonville; one brother, George Shrake of Fairview Park, OH.; two sisters, Birdie Jeffi of Brunswick, OH. and Angela York of Strongsville, OH.; seven grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Pastor Greg Gaddis officiating. A private burial will be held by the family in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Ky. at a later date.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at Harris Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans Association or the Wendell Foster Center in Owensboro, Ky. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
