Dennis Earle Carter, 57, of Madisonville, Ky. passed away at 9:10 a.m. on Tuesday June 14, 2011 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN.

He was born on December 29, 1953 in Fort Sill, OK. to Fon Carter and the late Barbara Collins Hibbs. He was formerly employed with Island Creek Coal Company. He was a member of Covenant Community Church in Madisonville.

In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his step-father, Darrell Hibbs.

He is survived by his father, Fon Carter of Madisonville; a son, Jordan Carter of Newburgh, IN.; two brothers, Micheal Wayne Carter of Madisonville and Hershel Glenn Carter of Vandetta, Ky.; his grandmother, Marie Collins of Madisonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday June 17, 2011 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Dr. Michael Knight officiating. Burial will be in Hanson Cemetery in Hanson, Ky.

Visitation will be 4 p.m until 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour Friday at Harris Funeral Home.
