Obituary

David Morton Crockett, 65, of Madisonville, KY, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5, 2024, at his home with his loving wife, Rita Crockett, of forty-three years by his side.

David was born on March 15, 1959, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Odell Summers Crockett and John Crockett, Sr. He was one of three children. He was formerly employed as a lineman for the City of Madisonville for many years. David was an electrician and a handyman and could fix almost anything. He also owned and operated a residential and commercial lawn and landscaping company for many years. One of his greatest accomplishments was becoming a father and papaw. He had a love for cars, guns, and was a collector of comic books and action figures. He enjoyed music and movies and loved being outdoors.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Morton and Lola Summers; paternal grandparents, David Franklin Crockett and Francis Montgomery; his dog, Maggie; and many friends that he called family.

Survivors include his wife of forty-three years, Rita Grisham Crockett; son, Justin (Dawn) Crockett; daughter, Cassie (Buddie) Morris; brother, John Crockett, Sr.; sister, Cherie Ray; grandchildren, Cyrus Solise, Raylon Morris, and Camille Crockett; step-grandchildren, Brittney, Noah, Jenna, Lilly, Halle, Gordon, and Will; his beloved dog, Lucy; and several nephews.

Honoring David's wishes, a private ceremony will be held with immediate family and friends at a later date. The family would also like to thank Harris Funeral Home for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time.
