Cleatus "Tick" Lafayette Pendley, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Henderson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Henderson, KY. Tick has lived in Madisonville and the surrounding area all of his life.
He was born on October 24, 1931 in Earlington, KY to the late Irene and Jewell Pendley. Tick had a passion for masonry work and laid many of the bricks in the local buildings, houses and sidewalks through out Hopkins County and the surrounding area.
As we go thru life each day, we have few opportunities to meet a person that is larger than life. A man who enjoyed life each day to the fullest. A man who followed his dreams and made it a reality. A man who started out poor but ended with a wealth beyond material objects. He followed his dreams and showed others that life is a fun experience and even during tough times you find your way thru, there will always be a place for living out your dreams and enjoying life. He leaves behind several lives he has enhanced and years worth of masonry work in the surrounding areas. Every brick house, brick path and brick mailbox post I see, there is a piece of him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Earl and Doug Pendley.
Survivors include his children, Diane Brady, David "Butch" Pendley, Nancy Pendley and Michael Pendley; grandchildren, Judd Johnston, Erin Bell, Cameron Pendley, Cody Pendley and Shawn Patoka; brothers and sisters, Bill Pendley, Ronnie Pendley, Wanda Villines, Dixie Suthard and Dennis Pendley; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2015 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Jerry Brewer officiating. Burial to follow at New Salem Cemetery in Nortonville, KY.
