Clarence "Sam" Elkins Jr., 63, of Sturgis, Ky. passed away at 1:34 a.m. Monday February 8, 2010 at Methodist Hospital in Morganfield, Ky.

He was born August 14, 1946 in Hopkins County, Ky. to the late Clarence "Scotty" Elkins and Leona Bobbie Nunn. He was a truck driver for River Metal Recycling in Henderson, Ky. He was a member of the Black Diamond CB Club.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a great grandson.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Dorothy Elkins; six daughters, Darlene Elkins, Stacey Sample, Rita Bivins, Rebecca Brummett, Rebecca Powell and Samantha Ferguson; five sisters; a brother; seventeen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday February 12, 2010 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville, Ky. with Bro. Joel Gray officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommie Hill, Larry Mosley, Bryan Bivins Jr., Jimmy Elkins, Harold Curry and John Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Ferguson and Damian Berkel.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at Harris Funeral Home.
