Cheryl Whitledge Burton, 79, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at her home.

She was born on July 9, 1946, in Clay, KY, to the late Mary Edith Greer Whitledge and Lloyd Whitledge. She enjoyed baking. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and cooking meals for them. Cheryl was a member of Madisonville First General Baptist Church in Madisonville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Shannon David Baker; and her brother, Jim Whitledge.

Her survivors include her husband of thirty-two years, Wayne Burton of Madisonville; sons, Michael (Misty) Burton of Providence, KY, and Robert (Michelle) Burton of Lexington, KY; brother, Barry Whitledge of Dawson Springs, KY; daughter-in-law, Kim Baker; grandchildren, Hanni (Jason) Payton of Greenville, KY, Spencer Baker of Manitou, KY, Trevor Baker of Newburgh, IN, Lance Holz of Evansville, IN, Brooke Burton of Providence, Jacob Burton of Pennsylvania, Sam Burton of Pennsylvania, and Sarah Burton of Lexington, KY; great-grandchildren, Natalee Payton of Greenville, KY, Camden Baker of Manitou, KY, Laiken Baker of Manitou, Elisha Burton and Elle Burton, both of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Madisonville First General Baptist Church, 900 West Center Street, Madisonville, KY with Pastor Joe Knight. Burial will be held at White Oak Cemetery in Clay, KY, at a later date.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
