Burtis Andrew Holmes, 86, of
Claytonville, died at 2:00 a.m.
Saturday, January 31, 2009, at
his residence in Claytonville,
Ill.

He was born August 8, 1922, in Hopkins County, Ky. He was a retired automobile mechanic.
He was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. World War II veteran serving from April 1943 to November
1945.

He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Lousie Williams of Lutz, Fla., Judy and Buddy
Melton of Panama City, Fla., Linda and Jason McMahan of Claytonville, Sherry and Ben Besenyl of Panama City; one son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Glenda Homes of Madisonville, Ky.; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren;
and eight great-great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2009, in the Chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville. Rev. Richard Sisk will be officiating.

Burial will be in
Prospect Cemetery in Dalton, Ky.
