Obituary

Bettye Jo Anglin Hall, 96, resident of Madison Estates in San Antonio, Texas, passed away on December 11, 2022, surrounded by her family in Madisonville, KY.

Bettye was born October 5, 1926, in Wichita Falls, TX, to the late Isom Newton Anglin and Martha Jane Godwin. On October 12, 1943, Bettye married Marion Edward Hall in Wichita Falls. The couple lived together in Wichita Falls, Texas; Quincy, Illinois; Lawton, Oklahoma, and Broomfield, Colorado for a total of sixty-two years until Marion's passing in 2005.        Bettye was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Lawton, Oklahoma. Bettye pursued many hobbies and activities. She played her organ, sang in the church choir, quilted bedspreads, cross-stitched, painted portraits, decorated her house, and played games. Additionally, she worked as a nurse at Dr. L. M. White's office in Lawton, Oklahoma, then at Reynold's Army Hospital in Fort Sill, Oklahoma until her retirement. After Bettye and Marion retired, they traveled and loved to visit their children and grandchildren. Bettye especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren, Austin, and Ashley, having them over to her apartment to play games and bingo. Bettye lived independently in San Antonio until her death. In her final weeks, she flew to North Carolina to visit her granddaughter, Kristen Coulter, and her family, and then she flew to Kentucky to visit her niece, Ilona Smith, and her family. Bettye's family will miss their visits and frequent conversations with her.

In addition to her parents, Bettye Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Edward Hall; son Richard Lynn Hall; two brothers, Howard Anglin and Johnny Anglin; and three sisters, Myrtle Anglin, Ina Moody, and Gladys Gladney.

Bettye is survived by her sons, Bobby (Sherry) Hall of San Antonio, Texas and William "Bill" (Diane) Hall of Mesquite, Texas; granddaughters, Kristen (Rob) Coulter of Waxhaw, North Carolina and Traci Hall of San Antonio, Texas; great-granddaughter, Ashley Coulter and great-grandson, Austin Coulter, both of Waxhaw, North Carolina; niece, Ilona (Kerry) Anglin Smith of Madisonville, Kentucky; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Interment will be with husband, Marion, at Crestview Memorial Gardens in Wichita Falls, Texas. Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville, KY was entrusted with care.
