Betty Sue Blue, 92, of Hanson, KY, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023, at her home.

She was born on June 12, 1931, in Hanson, KY, to the late Lorene Majors Scott King and Aubrey Scott. She was formerly employed as the secretary for The Department of Mines and Minerals. She was a longtime 4-H leader for the Hanson community, a member of the Happy Homemakers Club, Ladies Quilting Club, and an avid gardener. She was a Kentucky Colonel and Citizen of the Year for Hopkins County. She was a friend to everyone she met. Betty was an active life-long member of Hanson United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Owen "Bill" Blue; brother, Lt. Colonel C.R. Scott; and sister, Joan Veazey.

Survivors include daughters, Annelle (David) Miller of Friendship, ME and Suellen Blue of Hanson; sons, Mark (Myra) Blue of Angel Fire, NM and Lindsay (Valerie) Blue of Onton, KY; brother-in-law, Richard "Dick" Blue of Hanson; devoted life-long friend, Anita Stanley of Hanson; grandchildren, Andrea (Jonathan) Myers, Dr. Lauren Michelle Blue, Lauren Elizabeth (Josh) Glover, Kelsey Elizabeth (Evan) Scott, John Dylan Blue, John Hayden (Jessica) Blue, Aubrey (Nick) Marvel, and William Christian Blue; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Hanson United Methodist Church with Pastor Tami Coleman officiating. A private burial will be held at Hanson Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday at the church. Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers are Christian Blue, Dylan Blue, John Blue, Nick Marvel, Lee Veazey, Josh Glover, Lane Glover, and Ayden Glover.
