Christine Wade, 83, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Ridgewood Terrace Health and Rehabilitation Center in Madisonville.

A native of Hopkins County and a graduate of Nortonville High School, Mrs. Wade was the wife of Mr. James Robert "Shake" Wade for more than sixty-four years. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Roger Earl Ashby and Mrs. Ruby Francis Branson Ashby. She is survived by two brothers, Mr. Charles Benjamin "Chuck" Ashby of San Antonio, TX and Ennis Timmons "Buck" Ashby of Scottsdale, AZ and a sister, Mrs. Dixie Louise Ashby Jones of Littleton, CO.

She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to her as "Aunt Teene". These nieces and nephews were the light of her life with whom she dearly loved to visit as often as possible.

She was a homemaker and lived in the Grapevine area of Madisonville since 1958 where she had a close knit group of friends that included Mrs. Jackie Combs and late husband James, Mr. and Mrs. John (Susie) Dickerson, Mrs. Peggy Troop and late husband Jim, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Shelby) Taylor who have been angels for her. Also many thanks to her beloved and special friend Norma Arnold. The family deeply appreciates all they have done over the years and during her recent illness. The family also wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Buddy (Mary Ann) Brooks for their timeless efforts in providing meals, transportation and most of all a listening ear.

Mrs. Wade was a charter member of the Opal Adus Sunday School class of the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for more than thirty-five years.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2012 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Rev. Don Davis and Rev. Dale Carden officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour Thursday at Harris Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery in Hanson, KY.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Bourland, J.D. Jones, Buddy Brooks, Mel Wyatt, Mike Wyatt and Jeff Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Hewlett and Bobby Ashby.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Madisonville.
