Arthur B. "P.I." Downing, 63, of Madisonville, Ky passed away at his home on Thursday, July 9, 2015.

He was born on August 18, 1951 in Madisonville, KY to the late, Agnes Williams Downing and Lester Earl Downing, Sr. Arthur was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran and a coal miner with Island Creek Coal Company.

Survivors include his wife of forty-two years, Sally Riggs Downing; daughters, Tara Downing McGar of Madisonville and Suzanne Downing Graham of Bremen, KY; son, Michael Aaron Downing and his wife, Sheila of Cave In Rock, IL; brother, Lester Earl Downing, Jr.; sister, Brenda Downing Ricketts of Morganfield, KY; granddaughters, Ericka Whitney McGar, Alaina Grace McGar, Allisha Nicole Banks and Bailey Jae Downing; grandson, Dylan Mitchell Graham, Denver Mitchell, River Downing and Aaron Downing; great-grandson, McKavin Banks; and one nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2015 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville. Burial to follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY. Military honors will be conducted graveside by the 101st Airborne Division, Ft. Campbell.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour Monday at Harris Funeral Home.
