Arleta Lee Smith, 80, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Baptist Health Madisonville.

She was born on November 27, 1937 in Pahoa, Hawaii on November 27, 1937 to the late Florence Lee Kai Borsdorf and Charles Edward Huston, Sr. Arleta retired from the State of Kentucky Department of Finance. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. Arleta was a Kentucky Colonel and was of the Catholic faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin C. Smith; her son, John C. Smith; and her brothers, Charles E. Huston, Jr. and John Bailey Campbell.

Survivors include her daughter, Natalie Chapman and husband, Leonard of Madisonville; sister, Rachel McKenzie and husband, Ken of Kansas; brother, Thomas Campbell and wife, Annie of South Korea; grandson, Michael T. Fowler and wife, Tracey of Hanson, KY; great-grandsons, Ethan Fowler and Branden Fowler both of Hanson, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 26, 2018 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with father David Kennedy officiating. Burial to follow at Odd Follows Cemetery in Madisonville.

The visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in Arleta's memory to the Hopkins County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
