Alma Marie
Ray
Aug 6, 1947 — Mar 10, 2023
Madisonville
Alma Marie Jarvis Ray was received into the arms of the Lord on March 10, 2023. Alma was born August 6, 1947, the youngest daughter of Paul and Arvana Swan Jarvis. She lived in Nortonville, KY as a young lady, and spent her adult life in Madisonville, KY. Alma raised two sons, Don and Teddy, whom she loved dearly.
Alma was an active and independent spirit who journeyed life with her own compass. She walked daily at the mall and was known to go up to strangers and asked any number of questions. Alma was fascinated by American Indian culture and history; she attended many Pow Wows over the years. She knew how to make a "mean" banana pudding, a particular favorite of Teddy's. Her cherished grandsons, Phillip and Tucker, brighten her day whenever they called.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Teddy Wayne Ray; four brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include her son, Don (Wendy) Ray of Cumberland City, TN; sister, Betty Camplin of Madisonville; brother, Sonny Jarvis of Madisonville; grandsons, Phillip (Kaitlyn) Ray of Knoxville, TN and Tucker Ray of Jackson, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Chaplain Pat Dew officiating. A private burial will be held at Vernal Grove Cemetery in Graham, KY.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday at the funeral home.
