Adolph "Dolph" Mayhew, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2023.

Dolph was born on July 28, 1934, in Slemp, KY to the late Bill and Edith Asher Mayhew. He graduated from Leatherwood High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 until 1958. After his military service Dolph worked at Island Creek Coal Company where he later retired.

In 1962 he married the love of his life, Barbara, they went on to have two children, Chandra and Chris. Dolph spent his time outside in the garden, wood working and watching UK Basketball. He loved the hills of Eastern, KY but his true love was his granddaughters and his great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty years, Barbara "Barb" Cinnamon Mayhew; brothers, Walter, Billy and Franklin Mayhew; and his sisters, Norma Marsh and Nadine Pulliam.

Survivors include his daughter, Chandra (Troy) Pendley of Nebo, KY; son, Chris (Donna) Mayhew of Madisonville, KY; brother, Jimmy Mayhew of Slemp, KY; sister, Ruth Martin of Nacogdoches, TX; granddaughters, Madeline (Jonathan) Lumpkin of Madisonville, Miriah Pendley of White Plains, KY and Bella Mayhew of Beechmont, KY; great-grandchildren, Heather, Courtney, Casey, Emma, Kandice, Aidan and Wyatt.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Reverend Robert Cottoner officiating. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Madisonville with military honors conducted graveside by the United States Marine Corps and the Hopkins County Honor Guard.

A visitation will be held from Noon until the funeral hour Wednesday at the funeral home.

The pallbearers are Troy Pendley, Jonathan Lumpkin, Allan Offutt, Tim Pendley, Shane Cinnamon and Johnny Pendley.
