Barbara Jean Van Winkle, 65, of Earlington, KY passed away at 3:10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

She was born on December 16, 1946 in Jep Hill, KY to the late Marie Sutherland and Gilbert Shepherd. She was a CNA with NHC Healthcare in Dawson Springs and Madisonville, KY. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lee Van Winkle and her son, Billy Jay Van Winkle.

She is survived by her son, Byron (Heather) Van Winkle of Slaughters, KY; her daughter, Crystal (Bruce) Jones of Russellville, KY; four granddaughters, Baylee Van Winkle, Hanna Van Winkle both of Slaughters, Brissa Jones and Sofia Jones both of Russellville; two grandsons, Rashawn Jones and Christian Jones both of Russellville; two brothers; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2012 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Minister Russell Kline officiating. Burial will be in Ilsley Cemetery near Dawson Springs.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday at Harris Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Doug Shepherd, Larry Shepherd, Rashawn Jones, Lawson Clayton, Byron Van Winkle and Bruce Jones. Honorary pallbearer will be Christian Jones.
