U.S. Veteran

Charles Lee Wilkerson, Jr., 84, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the Eddie Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY.

He was born on January 15, 1928 in Ferndale, MI to the late Archie Mabel and Charles Lee Wilkerson, Sr. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean era. He was formerly self employed as a cement mason. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Carters Chapel in Madisonville.

In adddition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, David Edward Wilkerson; his first wife, Nancy Lee Wilkerson; his second wife, Wilma McCulley Wilkerson; two sisters, Ruth Gibson and Mable June Moore Frost; and his brother, Carl Ray Wilkerson.

He is survived by his son, Michael Wayne Wilkerson of Madisonville; three daughters, Barbara (Roger) Chandler of Greenville, KY, Debra Charpentier of Eddyville, KY and Donna Pride of Madisonville; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one expecting great-grandchild; step-son, Ronnie McCulley; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2012 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Ruby Rickard officiating. Military services will be conducted graveside by 101st Airborne Division, Ft. Campbell and Hopkins County Honor Guard. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour Thursday at Harris Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be James Morris, Jess McDowell, Kenny Quillen, Michael Wilkerson, Pee wee Gordon and Brandon Russell. Honorary pallbearers will be Buck Quillen and Earnest McGinnis.
