Charles "Monroe" Scott, 95, of White Plains, KY passed away at 5:50 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2012 at Brighton Cornerstone Healthcare.

He was born on August 24, 1916 in Franklin, KY to the late Clarence G. Scott and Dovie B. Scott. He was formerly a welder at shipyards in Evansville, IN. He retired as a welder from Peabody Coal Co. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church in White Plains.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five sisters, Martha Scott, Helen Fergerson, Mary Rose Gatlin, Minnie Bell Black and Dorothy Traner.

He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Mary Sue Simms Scott; a daughter, Alma L. Lacy of Mortons Gap, KY; a son, Charles W.(Linda) Scott of White Plains, KY; two sisters Estelle Rickard of Madisonville, KY and Bessie (James)Green of Cadiz, KY; four grandchildren Jeffrey Scott, Sherron McDyer, Robin Bullock, and April Edwards; eight great-grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2012 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Ellis Payne officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday at Harris Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Scott, Myles Scott, Daniel Scott, Todd Watson, Darrell Moore and Larry Martin.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Allen, Jimmy McDyer, Cleveland Forbes, and the Deacons of Concord Baptist Church in White Plains.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International or Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
